Things I noticed on a slow morning
Last Sunday I woke up without an alarm and, for once, without a plan. I made tea, sat by the window and did nothing for almost an hour. It felt strange at first, almost as if I was doing something wrong.
Then I started noticing things. The sound of the street before it got busy. The way light moved slowly across the wall. A neighbour watering her plants with great care, as if each one mattered. I realised how rarely I look at anything without a screen in my hand.
I have been busy for so long that I mistook it for being useful. Most days I move from one task to the next and call the blur a life. That morning showed me how much I miss when I move fast.
I do not want to give up work or ambition. I like both. But I want to protect small spaces like this one, where nothing is asked of me. An hour of quiet does not fix everything, yet it changes how the rest of the week feels.
This week I will try again. No plan, no phone, one cup of tea. If you have a quiet habit like this, I would love to hear about it.
